The IAPMO Group Actively Supports World Plumbing Day, March 11

The IAPMO Group has planned a number of events/promotions to recognize and publicize the first-ever World Plumbing Day, established on March 11 each year by the World Plumbing Council (WPC) as a means of promoting the plumbing industry’s vital work on behalf of the planet and its people.

This annual event aims to help the general public better understand how the plumbing industry protects the public’s health and safety, to demonstrate the extent to which it helps limit mankind’s environmental footprint and to illuminate other important work performed by contractors, inspectors, installers, engineers, manufacturers and academicians that is often taken for granted.

The IAPMO Group is an enthusiastic supporter of World Plumbing Day and will promote awareness of its
celebration through a number of efforts, including:
• Elementary School Educational Activity Contest: IAPMO has approached grade school administrators about participation in an educational activity contest highlighting safety work performed by plumbers. Activity booklets are available for download in .pdf file format and three winning entries will receive a Nintendo Wii game system, complements of IAPMO.
• One-Day Only Product Certification Discounts: IAPMO R&T will offer the following discounts on any application received on March 11.
• One free listing per manufacturer for any solar, gray water or mechanical product
• 25% off ISO 9001 registration
• 75% off IAPMO Evaluation Service report
• 75% off any application transferred from an existing listing with a competitor, now through March 11
• Lapel Pins and Hard Hat Stickers: IAPMO has produced and distributed pins and stickers bearing the World Plumbing Day logo and the slogan “March 11 Every Year … Everywhere.”

“The IAPMO Group pledges our full support to the World Plumbing Council in helping cement March 11 as a day of international celebration of our industry and its countless merits,” said GP Russ Chaney, executive director of The IAPMO Group.

More information, including fact sheets detailing the plumbing industry’s advances with regard to health and environmental sustainability, can be found at www.worldplumbingday.org. The World Plumbing Council and The IAPMO Group encourage all plumbing organizations, WPC member or not, to participate in the celebration annually, beginning with this year’s inaugural event.

“Widespread awareness of this event will no doubt have a profoundly positive effect on people all over the world, from crowded cities to rural villages — everywhere that is touched or could benefit from the touch of plumbing’s contributions,” said Bob Siemsen, IAPMO President.
