At the same pace, plumbing and HVAC advances have emerged and continue to reshape our daily lives both at home and at our places of business. Get the scoop on all of these practical, innovative technologies by attending the International Emerging Technology Symposium, co-hosted by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) and the World Plumbing Council, Aug. 19-20 at the O’Hare Marriott in Chicago.
A host of presenters will introduce participants to the various ways in which the manufacturing, engineering and trade industries devise solutions to international regulatory developments on such topics as: water, sanitation and health; water and energy efficiency; water reuse; solar and other renewable energies; and fat, oil and grease discharges.
Organizers have assembled a tremendous panel of experts, headed by keynote speaker Stephen L. Johnson, the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He’ll relate his 27 years with EPA to the challenges and opportunities presented by our modern world and its latest advances. Others presenting new perspectives and technologies include:

• Mary Ann Dickinson, Alliance for Water Efficiency, on the impact of energy embedded in treated water
• Tom Meyer, Green Mechanical Council, on “GreenSpeak” and the challenge of making green mainstream
• Bill Hoffman, Hoffman & Associates, on alternative on-site sources of water and green building
• Glen Pleasance, Region of Durham, Ontario, Canada, will present the results of his home efficiency study
• John Koeller, Alliance for Water Efficiency, and Bill Gauley, Veritec Consulting Inc., on the five most innovative new water savings products available today
• E.W. Boulware, Design-Aire Engineering, will discuss sizing and design of rainwater catchment systems
• Robert Zimmerman, Kohler Co., on a proposed rating system for high efficiency plumbing fixtures
• Roy Sieber, ERG (WaterSense), with five basic research needs to advance the WaterSense specification
• Gary Klein, Affiliated International Management, LLC, will layout a plumbing system on the room floor
