IAPMO Solicits Public Comments for 2018 Uniform Solar/Hydronics and Swimming Pool Codes

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®), publisher of the Uniform Solar Energy and Hydronics Code® (USEHC) and Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code® (USPSHTC), is calling for public comments on the 2017 Report on Proposals for the 2018 editions of these American National Standard designated model codes.

The public comment form, as well as instructions and background on IAPMO’s ANSI-accredited consensus development process, can be found HERE.

All comments should indicate the exact wording recommended as accepted as submitted, accepted as modified or rejected, as well as state the problem the recommendation will resolve and the specific reason for making the comment.

No comments will be accepted after the 5 p.m. PDT deadline on June 20. All public comments will be distributed to the Technical Committee members in September and reviewed at their meetings Oct. 24-25 in Ontario, Calif. Copies of the Report on Proposals will not be available in hardcopy. Interested parties are encouraged to download a digital version.

IAPMO first developed the USEHC and USPSHTC in September 1976. The provisions of these codes apply to the erection, installation, alteration, repair, relocation, replacement, addition to or maintenance of any solar energy, hydronic heating/cooling, swimming pool, spa or hot tub system.

IAPMO urges its members and other interested parties to get involved in the code development process to ensure effectiveness in preserving the public health, safety and welfare through strict governance of the Uniform Codes. Installers, plumbing and mechanical officials, the construction industry, engineers and manufacturers all benefit from a cooperative effort in developing codes.

For questions about submitting comments, contact Enrique Gonzalez, Code Development Administrator, at (909) 230-5535 or by email at enrique.gonzalez@iapmo.org.
