The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is seeking technical experts to participate on and accepting applications for three unique task groups relating to: ducts and plenums that are portions of a heating, cooling, absorption or evaporative cooling, or exhaust system; ammonia refrigeration systems; and hydronic piping systems that are part of heating, cooling, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Individuals selected to participate on any of these task groups would be asked to review the provisions in the corresponding chapters of the 2015 Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®) to identify and review issues brought forth by IAPMO membership and the industry. These task groups will provide an in-dept analysis pertaining to ducts, ammonia refrigeration, and hydronic systems to develop recommendations for the UMC technical committee’s consideration.
Task group members will participate via conference call or web meeting and provide their perspective on the code and assist in drafting recommendations, along with a report of underlying issues, for action by the UMC technical committee. Applicants are not required to be members of the UMC technical committee.

Published by IAPMO in 1967, the UMC is developed to govern the installation and inspection of mechanical (HVAC, combustion, exhaust, refrigeration) systems as a means of promoting the public’s health, safety and welfare. Developed and subsequently republished at the conclusion of each three-year code cycle, the Uniform Codes are designed to provide consumers with safe plumbing, heating and mechanical systems while, at the same time, allowing latitude for innovation and new technologies.
