IAPMO Seeking Technical Committee Members

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is seeking volunteers to participate on two Technical Committees working toward the development of the 2012 editions of the Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code® (USPSHTC) and Uniform Solar Energy Code® (USEC).

The USPSHTC Technical Committee and USEC Technical Committee each seek members in the following categories: Producer, User and General Interest. These committees are assembled in accordance with the Regulations Governing Consensus Development of the USPSHTC and USEC and the Guide for the Conduct of Participants in the IAPMO Codes and Standards Development Process. These documents may be viewed at IAPMO’s Code Development Webpage. Within
them, prospective Technical Committee participants can find information on the scope and general guidelines for conduct of these committees.

IAPMO first adopted the USEC and USPSHTC in September 1976. The provisions of these codes apply to the erection, installation, alteration, repair, relocation, replacement, addition to or maintenance of any solar energy or swimming pool, spa or hot tub system. The 2009 editions of these codes were produced, for the first time, using a consensus process similar to the one used to develop the Uniform Plumbing Code® and Uniform Mechanical Code®, which are designated as American National Standards. IAPMO is pursuing the same designation through ANSI for the USEC and USPSHTC.

Anyone interested in serving on one of these committees can download the application at the Code Development Webpage, or can request an application from Alma Ramos at (909) 230-5528 or via e-mail at alma.ramos@iapmo.org.

For specific information about the Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code Technical Committee, please contact Matt Sigler at (909) 230-5535 or e-mail your question to matt.sigler@iapmo.org.
