IAPMO R&T Lab Introduces Cell Class Testing

IAPMO R&T Lab, a long-trusted name in independent testing, research and technical services for the plumbing and mechanical industries, announced Monday it has introduced a new capability, Cell Class Testing, to its already comprehensive menu of services.

The new battery of tests evaluate the integrity of raw materials used in the extrusion or injection molding of plastic pipes and parts. These various materials include, but are not limited to, ABS, PVC and polypropylene.

Samples of resin are sent to the Lab and molded into the appropriate test specimens. The test specimens are then conditioned prior to testing. The tests evaluate the plastic resin against the appropriate ASTM standards. Some of the tests included are impact strength, deflection, tensile stress, elasticity and specific gravity of the molded materials.

The addition of Cell Class Testing complements IAPMO R&T Lab’s existing material-testing protocols; including those for testing the content of various types of metals, chlorine testing of flush valve flapper materials, UV testing of plastics used in suction fittings and NSF 61.

“These new capabilities represent a significant investment for IAPMO R&T Lab in order to further expand our ability to serve clients as a one-stop shop for all of their product testing needs,” said Ken Wijaya, senior laboratory director.
