IAPMO Research and Testing Laboratory Solvent Cement Testing

IAPMO R&T Lab announced today the addition of the full spectrum of plastic pipe solvent cement testing to their capabilities. The Lab can now offer its clients fully-integrated testing programs that will suit their individual product mix needs.

The new testing facilities and capabilities allow the Lab to perform testing to the following standards:

  • ASTM F656 – 02 Standard Specification for Primers for Use in Solvent Cement Joints of Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Pipe and Fittings
  • ASTM F493 – 04 Standard Specification for Solvent Cements for Chlorinated Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (CPVC) Plastic Piping and Fittings
  • ASTM D25644 – 04 Standard Specification for Solvent Cements for Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Plastic Piping Systems
  • ASTM D3138 – 04 Standard Specification for Solvent Cements for Transition Joints Between Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) and Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Non-Pressure Piping Components

These increased capabilities allow the Lab to perform all the required testing  to these ASTM standards. Tests include all resin, viscosity, dissolution, stability testing, lap shear, hydrostatic burst, hydrostatic sustained testing and NSF/ANSI 61 in one facility.

“We can now run the methods and help our clients with the mandated, on-going, third-party quality control,” said Michael Briggs, manager of IAPMO’s Analytical R&T Lab. “This is another program where we can help our clients with their quality control and certification needs.”
