IAPMO Education Course Receives U.S. Green Building Council Approval

“2009 Uniform Solar Code Essentials,” an education course developed and administered by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), is the first of what is expected to soon become many IAPMO educational offerings approved by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Education Review Services for eight Green Building Certification Institute Continuing Education (GBCI CE) Hours. LEED professionals are required to earn GBCI CE Hours each year to maintain their license.

A full description, pricing and credential maintenance information for the course, which provides a general overview of the 2009 Uniform Solar Energy Code® toward a greater understanding of how the code is organized, how to apply it and a better understanding of its key concepts and provisions, can be viewed here.

Other courses submitted by IAPMO and awaiting USGBC approval include: “GPMCS Essentials”; “Alternate Water Source Systems”; “Water Efficiency and Water Heating Systems”; “HVAC Energy Efficiency and Environmental Quality”; “Introduction to Green Plumbing Concepts”; “Introduction to Green Mechanical Concepts”; “UPC Chapter 16 Nonpotable Water Reuse Systems”; and “2009 UPC Green Plumbing Overview.”

In addition to complying with the USGBC Education Provider Guidelines, IAPMO is recognized as an Authorized Provider in compliance with the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard for Continuing Education and Training. An IACET Authorized Provider of Continuing Education, IAPMO is required to have an identifiable education or training unit responsible for developing and administering education and training. The standard provides the framework for ensuring the quality of instructional materials and quality of the instructors.

IAPMO is also a Registered Continuing Education Systems (CES) Provider with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System. To ensure the highest-quality professional standards, CES Providers complete a comprehensive evaluation and only CES Providers can offer professional learning units, the hallmark of quality in continuing education and training for the AIA.

“IAPMO’s vigorous efforts to provide the most comprehensive and highest quality technical resources and convenient support to its chapters and members has resulted in IAPMO becoming an approved provider of continuing education in many states, municipalities, local jurisdictions and agencies” said Allen Inlow, IAPMO senior director of Business and Product Development. “We are looking forward to continuing to meet the growing continuing education needs of our members in the classroom, online and via Webinars.”
