Brian Gerber Named Technical Director of IAPMO’s Uniform ES

The IAPMO Group is pleased to announce it has named Brian Gerber, PE, SE, Technical Director of IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Services (UES).

Gerber has 35 years experience in the fields of structural engineering, building product development, and project management. He spent the past 29 years with ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), serving most recently as the principal structural engineer, responsible for directing technical personnel, representing ICC Evaluation Service before technical organizations, and managing evaluation committee hearings.

While in that capacity, Gerber worked on complex and innovative acceptance criteria for a wide variety of products. He also introduced numerous evaluation reports on structural systems and contributed considerably in the development of seismic performance acceptance criteria for building components. His research efforts have been detailed in technical papers published by several prominent structural engineering organizations over the last two decades.

“Uniform ES is extremely fortunate to be able to add into our organization one of the most respected and well known structural engineering professionals in the industry,” said Uniform ES Director Richard Beck. “Both existing and prospective clients will benefit greatly from his 35 years of experience, expertise and technical knowledge in this field.”

A Civil Engineering graduate of the University of California, Davis, with a Master of Business Administration from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, Gerber began his career as a plan check engineer with the Stanislaus County Department of Building Inspection in Modesto, Calif.

“Uniform ES is an even stronger organization, better able to serve a wider range of clients seeking detailed, professional evaluation reports as a result of the addition of Brian Gerber to our staff,” said Ohannes Dembekjian, senior director.

Gerber is a member of the American Concrete Institute, ASTM International, and the Structural Engineers Association of California.

“I am thrilled to be part of the IAPMO team,” Gerber said. “My entire career has been spent serving the construction industry and I look forward to continuing my contribution toward assuring public safety with IAPMO UES’s current and future clients.”
