ASA’s Jim Kendzel appointed voting member for important IAPMO committee

New standard covers alternate water source systems for multi-family, residential and commercial use.

American Supply Association Director of Codes and Standards Jim Kendzel, MPH, CAE, has been appointed as a voting member to the new International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) Technical Subcommittee Z1324.

The scope of IAPMO Z1324 covers alternate water source systems for multi-family, residential and commercial use intended to process water from alternate water sources such as greywater, rainwater, storm water, air-conditioning condensate, cooling tower makeup, vehicle wash and other nonpotable reuse applications not specifically listed — for use in subsurface and/or surface irrigation, and toilet/urinal flushing applications.

The Z1324 standard will be developed by this new technical subcommittee.

“The growing use of alternate water source technologies will have an increasing impact on the plumbing and PVF marketplace, and the products our members deliver to that marketplace,” Kendzel said. “It is critical for ASA to represent its members and the plumbing and PVF supply chains as new standard activities are initiated related to alternate water system technology.”
