Significant Increase in New Uniform Evaluation Service Reports

IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) Evaluation Report Program has grown significantly this year, demonstrating the building industry’s interest in having another, equal, source of evaluation reports. The UES Evaluation Program offers numerous incentives to new clients while maintaining a reputation for timely, expert technical evaluations. This has resulted in new Evaluation Reports for companies such as Simpson Strong-Tie Company, Inc, United Steel Products Company, C-Thru Industries, Dayton Superior Corporation, Worthington Armstrong Venture, Bowman-Morton Manufacturing & Machine, Inc., and others.

IAPMO’s UES is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and can offer recognition for the International Family of Codes, as well as Florida, California and various other state codes. The UES program lowers the cost and increases the value to code officials of these reports by combining all of these recognitions in one concise report prepared by an internationally recognized certification agency.

Under the Uniform Evaluation Service, benefits for new applicants include the “Transfer and Save” program affording an opportunity to save up to 40 percent on product certification costs.

“We believe the program’s growth is due to a corporate philosophy of earning your business one customer at a time,” said UES Director Richard Beck, PE, CBO, MCP.  “Manufacturers agree that they have a vested interest in having a second credible, we think a better, source for product recognition. Industry asked IAPMO to enter this arena about five years ago, expressly to counter what many perceived as a then existing monopoly.”

IAPMO has an internal staff of licensed engineers in a variety of areas and also draws on the expertise of outside professional consulting engineers, who are experts in their fields, to help quickly evaluate products. This reduces the learning curve for internal staff. Employment of these experts is one of the many reasons UES is widely recognized for its high quality of evaluation reports and listings. Code officials and inspectors look for the UES marks of conformity.

About IAPMO

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) coordinates the development and adaptation of plumbing, mechanical, swimming pool and solar energy codes to meet the specific needs of individual jurisdictions both in the United States and abroad. IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service is one of the two prominent evaluation service providers (as noted by SEAOC, see iapmoes.org for details). UES reports provide evidence that products and systems satisfy code requirements within the scope and conditions of use as may be noted in each report.
