Naples, Florida (June 18, 2020) — IAPMO’s WE•Stand Committee is saddened to report former chairman Craig Selover, a kind, smart, strategic, patient and well-reasoned leader of the plumbing manufacturer community, has died. He was 71.
Selover, who spent a majority of his career with Masco Corporation and Delta Faucet, served as WE•Stand Committee chairman for the 2017 development cycle. He also participated with and made vital contributions to IAPMO’s Green Technical Committee, which preceded WE•Stand.
Selover rose to industry prominence as vice president of engineering for T&S Brass and Bronze Works before moving into the same role at Delta Faucet Company, for which he worked 18 years. He spent 11 more years as director of Plumbing Products Technology for the Masco Corporation prior to his retirement in 2013. He was elected president of Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) in 1990 and was the recipient of the organization’s President’s Award in 2012.
“Craig was influential at PMI and various standards developing committees, including his important early work on WE•Stand,” said Pete DeMarco, IAPMO executive vice president of Advocacy and Research. “He was always regarded as one of the best minds in the industry and was universally liked and respected.”
Selover’s expertise was invaluable to standards development and research bodies.
“Craig was an early supporter of the Hunter’s Curve revision and he shared his research with me over numerous conversations,” said Dan Cole, IAPMO senior director of Technical Services. “I still have a folder of his simultaneous use analysis, scatter plots, house layouts, and PEX pressure drops. I remember his presentations to IAPMO’s Green Technical Committee on life cycle assessment. I learned a lot from him over the years; we all have. He will be missed.”
Mary Ann Dickinson, president and CEO of the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE), added: “I join you all in mourning the loss of Craig Selover. I, too, found him wonderful to work with over the years. He was a strong supporter of AWE while he was at Masco and we already miss him very deeply.”
Selover was an avid traveler and spent time in Nepal trekking toward Mount Everest in 1999 and 2000. In his memory, you can have a group of trees planted in a forest of need.
