IAPMO Supports National High-Performance Buildings Week

Washington, D.C. – The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) will once again support national High-Performance Buildings Week and all events associated with it. An annual celebration of high-performing buildings organized by the coalition of building industry stakeholders that support the High-Performance Building Congressional Caucus Coalition (HPBCCC), this year’s events coincide with the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) 40th anniversary.

As a key member of the HPBCCC — IAPMO Vice President of Government Relations Dain Hansen co-chairs the coalition with ASHRAE Director of Government Affairs Doug Read — IAPMO continues to recognize and reaffirm our nation’s commitment to high-performance buildings by promoting awareness about their benefits (water/energy conservation, increased safety/environmental quality) and by promoting new education programs, supporting research and expanding access to this information.

“We are thrilled once again to support High-Performance Buildings Week, but what makes this week even better is it happens to coincide with NIBS’ 40th anniversary and the release of the latest Consultative Council Report,” Hansen said. “The ideals, findings and recommendations of the latest report can move our country yet another step closer to better, more efficient and safer buildings.”

IAPMO is co-sponsoring, and Hansen will speak at, a briefing on Capitol Hill, “Advancing the Building Industry: Findings and Recommendations from the Consultative Council,” on Thursday, noon-1:30 p.m. Hansen will speak on “Addressing National Water Use Issues.” IAPMO’s Pete DeMarco chairs the Consultative Council’s Energy and Water Topical Committee.

”Once again it is ASHRAE’s pleasure to honor the myriad organizations within the building community that work throughout the year to create policy that contributes to high-performing buildings,” Read said. “For the last four years, the HPBCCC members have celebrated these efforts in a national High-Performance Buildings Week. As co-chair of the HPBCCC, I hope this year’s events, including the release of the NIBS Consultative Council report, will set the tone for the coming year.”
