IAPMO R&T Offers ANSI-Accredited WaterSense® Certification for High-Efficiency Plumbing Products

IAPMO R&T, North America’s premier plumbing and mechanical product certification agency, is now accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to provide third-party certification services for a wide range of products seeking the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) WaterSense® label, including:
• faucets and faucet accessories
• high-efficiency toilets
• high-efficiency flushing urinals

The WaterSense program offers consumers a simple way to make product-purchasing choices that conserve water with no sacrifice to quality or performance. IAPMO R&T has been working closely with the EPA to offer ANSI-accredited certification of these products to the efficiency standards necessary to earn the WaterSense mark.

Manufacturers wishing to have their products identified as meeting the WaterSense criteria must have them certified as such by a qualified third-party certification body such as IAPMO R&T.

IAPMO R&T has been a licensed provider of WaterSense® certification since 2007, certifying the first lavatory faucet to the standard in December of that year. To date, more than 1,800 lavatory faucets and toilets have been certified to the WaterSense specifications.

“With IAPMO R&T, the only thing more efficient than your WaterSense labeled faucet, toilet or flushing urinal is the certification process itself,” said Shahin Moinian, senior director of IAPMO R&T. “Achieving WaterSense certification through IAPMO R&T is fast, inexpensive and highly professional, as our ANSI accreditation attests.”

ANSI accreditation adds value to the certification process, ensuring that certification bodies demonstrate compliance with the WaterSense product certification system and are capable and competent to carry out their responsibilities.
