IAPMO Moves 2014 Technical Committee Meetings to Las Vegas

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) has announced that its annual Technical Committee Meetings toward the development of the 2015 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) and Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®) have been relocated to Las Vegas. The April 28-May 2 meetings had previously been scheduled to take place in St. Louis.

This year’s meetings will be held at the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino on the world famous Las Vegas Strip. Individuals anticipating an active role in the ANSI-accredited consensus development of the Uniform Codes can reserve rooms through March 27 at a special rate of $119/night when they mention the IAPMO TC Meeting. To make a reservation, call (866) 317-1829.

The technical committees will be reviewing public comments to the Report on Proposals at this year’s meetings.

Public comments on the UPC address: roof drainage pipe sizing provisions; steps for using the new medical gas and vacuum sizing tables; material, water consumption and referenced standard requirements for plumbing fixtures; applying “wet location” to showers without thresholds; parallel distribution systems; firestop materials; and revised Appendix A water pipe sizing provisions.

Public comments on the UMC address: condensate control and air filter requirements; parking garage provisions; hydronic heating and cooling systems; flexible air ducts; smoke and fire dampers; several public comments involving specific appliances; refrigeration; and fuel gas piping.

Technical Committee Meeting Monographs will be available for download on March 24. The Monographs contain every public comment submitted for the 2015 editions of the UPC and UMC as part of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited consensus code development process employed by IAPMO.
