Ontario, Calif. – The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is seeking volunteers, with technical background in plumbing and mechanical systems and specific knowledge of electronic plumbing supply system integrity detection devices — such as jurisdictional authorities, testing lab and educational facility representatives, as well as manufacturing experts — to participate on the IAPMO Z1117 Technical Subcommittee (TSC).
This standard covers press connections made with: (a) copper or copper alloy fittings and Type K, L, and M copper tube; (b) carbon steel fittings and Schedule 10 and 40 carbon steel pipe; (c) stainless steel fittings and Schedule 5, 10, and 40 stainless steel pipe; or (d) stainless steel fittings and stainless steel pipe complying with the dimensions specified in Table 1. IAPMO Z1117 specifies requirements for materials, physical characteristics, performance testing, and markings. Products covered by this standard include fittings, tube and pipe with press connection ends combined with other types of connections (e.g., threaded, soldered and push-fit). Carbon steel fittings and pipe covered by this standard are not intended to be used in potable water supply systems.
For more than 30 years, IAPMO has developed American National Standards (ANS), initially as the Secretariat for the ANSI Z124 Technical Committee, and since 2005 as an ANSI-accredited standards development organization. On May 10, 2018, IAPMO received accreditation through the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) for development of National Standards of Canada, thus accepting the responsibility for development of CAN/IAPMO-designated standards.
The Z1117 TSC will operate in accordance with IAPMO’s accredited procedures for standards development IAPMO PP-1 (Policies and Procedures for Consensus Development of American National Standards) and IAPMO PP-2 (Policies and Procedures for Development of National Standards of Canada).
Interested parties wishing to serve on the Z1117 TSC, please contact IAPMO Standards at standards@iapmostandards.org with a completed application as well as a copy of your résumé by Aug. 21. Applications can be downloaded HERE.
