Chicago — Dain Hansen, IAPMO’s executive vice president of Government Relations, has been elected to the Alliance for Water Efficiency’s (AWE) Board of Directors. He will serve a three-year term with North America’s leading nonprofit dedicated to the efficient and sustainable use of water.
A four-time winner of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Water Excellence Award for Strategic Collaboration (2012, 2017-19), AWE’s network of members includes more than 500 stakeholders representing manufacturers, water and wastewater utilities, government agencies, water conservation professionals, planners and consumers working together to ensure communities, businesses and ecosystems have the water they need to thrive.
IAPMO has long enjoyed a supportive and productive partnership with AWE, collaborating frequently on such endeavors as the Emerging Water Technology Symposiums (EWTS) and the Plumbing Efficiency Research Coalition (PERC).
“It is a great honor and tremendous opportunity to serve on the AWE Board of Directors,” Hansen said. “In this role, I will seek to ensure AWE’s mission is being supported, recognized and advanced by all facets of the water industry, the construction industry and policymakers across the nation. With the recent droughts impacting nearly 30 percent of the U.S. population, and with IAPMO’s industry-leading efforts on water conservation and water reuse, it is the ideal time to be joining the board of such an important and relevant organization.”
Since joining The IAPMO Group in 2010, Hansen has overseen an unprecedented expansion of the association’s influence among government policymakers both in the United States and abroad. He manages IAPMO’s global policy interests before foreign governments, U.S. Congress, the White House, federal and state regulatory agencies, and state legislatures. Further, Hansen has guided IAPMO’s work with EPA to ensure continuation of the popular and highly effective consumer product labeling program, WaterSense, and serves as immediate past chair of the High-Performance Buildings Coalition (HPBC), a private-sector coalition of stakeholders who provide guidance and support to the High-Performance Buildings Caucus of the U.S. Congress.
“We are excited to welcome Dain to AWE’s Board of Directors,” said Ron Burke, AWE president and CEO. “We look forward to welcoming Dain and his policy expertise, nonprofit experience and knowledge of the plumbing sector to further strengthen AWE’s water-efficiency initiatives.”
