The IAPMO Group is pleased to announce Michael W. Merrigan, PE, Esq., has joined the Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) staff as senior engineer.
Merrigan brings 31 years’ experience in the fields of civil/structural engineering, building product development, and as a practicing attorney. He spent the past five years with ICC Evaluation Service, serving most recently as staff engineer responsible for masonry, veneer and building envelopes. Prior to that, Merrigan was a product evaluation engineer for ICBO, worked as a consulting engineer, and practiced as an attorney. Merrigan spent five years as an engineer with the Masonry Institute of America.
“Uniform ES is the fastest-growing evaluation agency in the United States; we are extremely pleased to add someone with directly applicable experience to our growing staff,” said Uniform ES Director Richard Beck. “Our clients will benefit greatly from Michael’s three decades of construction and code experience.”
A civil engineering graduate of the Oregon Institute of Technology with a juris doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law, Merrigan began his career with the Department of Defense, then moved into construction activities.
“Uniform ES is an even stronger organization, better able to serve a wider range of clients seeking detailed, professional evaluation reports as a result of the addition of Michael Merrigan to our staff,” said Ohannes Dembekjian, senior director of Continuous Compliance with IAPMO R&T.
Merrigan is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Masonry Society and the State Bar of California.
“I am looking forward to working with building product manufacturers to assure architects, engineers and public safety professionals that the products are safe and fully code compliant,” Merrigan said. “Working with IAPMO UES helps manufacturers bring their products to market in a timely manner and also fully evaluate them to the requirements of the applicable codes and standards.”
