BSR/IAPMO S1001.4-201x, Energy Production Rating of Solar Heating Collectors (new standard)
This Standard specifies the procedures used to determine energy production ratings of solar heating collectors, which provide a basis for comparing the relative thermal performance of various solar collector technologies when evaluated under identical rating conditions. Ratings help users of solar heating products make an informed decision regarding the choice of collector with respect to thermal performance in a variety of end-use applications.

IAPMO’s S1001 Solar Standards Technical Subcommittee members met in a collaborative and open process to develop this draft solar heating collector rating standard, which is completely transparent and allows the user to convert the results of test laboratory thermal efficiency tests to a single-day collector energy production rating.
This standard, along with the accompanying IAPMO Solar Calculator, will allow manufacturers, distributors, architects, engineers, contractors, code authorities, program administrators and end-users to compare the energy production of tested solar heating collectors.
