Performance Requirements for Pressure Reducing Boiler Feed Valves with Integral Backflow Preventers –
Intermediate Atmospheric Vent Style
ASSE International is forming a working group for the development of ASSE Standard 1081, Performance Requirements for Pressure Reducing Boiler Feed Valves with Integral Backflow Preventers – Intermediate Atmospheric Vent Style. The first working group meeting is scheduled for July 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the ASSE International Office in Mokena, Ill.
Devices covered by this new standard, pressure reducing boiler feed valves with integral backflow preventers having an intermediate atmospheric vent, are multifunctional products, combined in a single housing or manifold to provide all of the required features in a compact, serviceable and easily installed format. These devices are to be installed in plumbing systems to fill and reduce static boiler pressure under normal conditions, as well as prevent backflow into the potable water supply lines.
ASSE 1081 devices are intended to provide the same benefits and features as products manufactured under the requirements of ASSE 1003, Performance Requirements for Water Pressure Reducing Valves for Domestic Water Distribution Systems, and ASSE 1012, Performance Requirements for Backflow Preventer with an Intermediate Atmospheric Vent.
All interested parties, especially those involved in previous ASSE 1003 or 1012 working groups, are invited to participate. To become a member of this working group, a completed application and résumé must be submitted to Executive Director Scott Hamilton by email at scott.hamilton@asse-plumbing.org; or by fax at (708) 479-6139.
ASSE International is an ANSI accredited standards developer and product certification body comprised of members representing all disciplines of the plumbing and mechanical industries. ASSE’s product performance standards, professional qualifications standards, professional certification and product listing programs aim to improve the performance and safety of plumbing and mechanical systems.
