Women – and Men – Supporting Women in the Industry

Calling all women in the industry! This fall, Trades Women Build Nations (TWBN) will be hosting its annual conference in New Orleans. Not only have I attended this conference for eight years, but I will also say this is the ultimate conference for all tradeswomen at any level to attend. Of course, this does not exclude the men who support these women as their peers in the trades. Each year the number of men attending in support of these women grows larger and stronger. I salute these men for having our backs!

I am a strong supporter of women in the industry, but nothing beats strength in numbers. If you are interested in attending or if you need to invite your boss and co-workers, now is the time to do it!

The conference is being held:
Sept. 27-29, 2024
Hilton New Orleans Riverside
Two Poydras St.
New Orleans, LA

Website: https://nabtu.org/twbn/

You will be amazed at the number of classes available, with a schedule of events from which it is hard to choose. Speaking from experience, I have always walked away feeling empowered by the amazing women in the industry and the incredible work they do. If you have the opportunity, please join us at the event. We will have a booth and sponsorship at the show.

Additionally, you may have heard that IAPMO is a co-sponsor of Women in Plumbing and Piping (WIPP). I am a proud member of this organization — let’s work together!

WIPP is a nonprofit membership organization that focuses on the inclusion, empowerment, and support of women in the plumbing industry, from the field to the boardroom, providing a place for you to thrive and unlock your full potential.

WIPP focuses on connecting and empowering women so that their training and leadership skills can help drive the overall betterment and professionalism of the plumbing and piping industries. Its membership also includes and welcomes men who support the inclusion of women in the plumbing and piping industries. Working together, WIPP is bringing the industry to a new level of excellence by supporting and promoting the contributions of women as an essential component of the future of plumbing and piping.

As a proud supporter, we encourage women to engage in this community with IAPMO and WIPP to strongly support the hard-working women in this industry. You may visit their website for more information at: https://www.womeninplumbandpipe.org/
