Utah State University researchers developed a personalized water conservation messaging tool to help water managers better understand their audience and their habits and create personalized messages. Researchers analyzed different types of public data, such as high-frequency water usage data, that records water use every 10 seconds, and psychological data to understand how consumers use water and respond directly to their water use. This customization strategy is used to provide individuals with specific recommendations for their household such as fixing leaky faucets, upgrading their dishwasher, or generally being more mindful of their water consumption.
