The IAPMO Group has named Richard L. Beck, PE, MCP, CBO, as Director of IAPMO Evaluation Services (ES).
A 30‐plus‐year veteran of the construction industry, more than 25 of them related to all aspects of building codes, Beck brings a thorough working knowledge of the techniques and procedures employed in the development, interpretation, maintenance, training, certification, evaluation of products and structure of codes and standards to his new post.

A University of Alabama graduate, Beck joins IAPMO ES following 26 years with the International Code Council (ICC), most recently as Senior Staff Engineer for ICC‐ES. Previously he served as Assistant Vice President Special Projects SBCCI PST & ESI, Assistant Manager of Codes SBCCI, Assistant Manager of the Plan Review Department SBCCI and Senior Mechanical Engineer. Prior to joining ICC, Beck designed nuclear power plants and stations, including heat rejection and HVAC.
A member and former president of the ASHRAE Birmingham Chapter, Beck was recipient of the chapter’s 1993 Young Engineer of the Year and 1998 Distinguished Service Award, and he has served on ASHRAE’s Standards Committee.

Amir Zamanian remains with IAPMO ES as Technical Director. Since he took over as Director of IAPMO ES in September 2007, Zamanian grew the organization from a handful of clients to the established, highly credible third‐party evaluation body it is today.
