The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) has hired Jed Scheuermann as Field Services manager for Region 12. The newly created region will cover Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and four western provinces/territories of Canada — British Columbia, Yukon, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Senior Director of Field Operations Dwight Perkins previously covered the three U.S. states. Edwin Ho, director of Canadian Certification Programs for IAPMO R&T, continues to manage IAPMO’s interests in the remaining Canadian provinces/territories.
“I have known Jed for many years both as the assistant coordinator at UA Local 290 and his time serving on IAPMO’s board of directors and the Cascade Chapter,” Perkins said. “I look forward to working with Jed, as he brings a great deal of knowledge of IAPMO codes and is very familiar with The IAPMO Group, which will assist him in finding opportunities in Canada, as well as working with the chapters and authorities having jurisdiction in the states he has been assigned.”
Born and raised in Canada, Scheuermann brings nearly 35 years of plumbing and mechanical industry experience to his new role. He most recently served as assistant training coordinator for United Association Local 290 in Tualatin, Ore., after serving the city of Portland, Ore., for 13 years as a plumbing inspector (1995-1998), senior plumbing inspector (1998-2005) and section manager (2005-2008). He also serves on the Oregon State Plumbing Board.
Prior to his work at the city of Portland, Scheuermann worked as a certified master plumber for Jack Howk Plumbing Inc. in Portland, and as president of Aldwil Mechanical Contractors Inc. in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
Scheuermann served on IAPMO’s board of directors from 2008 to 2011 and is a past member of the association’s Answers & Analysis and Education committees. He served on IAPMO’s Standards Council in 2012, a post from which he will step down. He has also served on the IAPMO Cascade Chapter’s executive board since 2002, chairing the board from 2004-‐2007. In September, Scheuermann was honored with IAPMO’s George Kauffman Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his service to the association and his humanitarian plumbing work following Hurricane Katrina and the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
“IAPMO is extremely fortunate to be able to add Jed Scheuermann to our Field Services staff,” said IAPMO CEO GP Russ Chaney. “During his more than a decade of involvement with IAPMO, Jed has distinguished himself as a tireless advocate for IAPMO’s mission and an exceptional person who goes above and beyond when his skills and knowledge can make a difference.”
