The IAPMO Group is pleased to announce Woods McRoy has joined the Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) staff as a senior engineer.
McRoy’s professional background includes more than 40 years in the codes and construction industry. His experience working with code development organizations began with the Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI), and he remained with the organization as it transformed into the International Code Council (ICC) in 2003. He has a strong background in product evaluation, plan review, code interpretations and education.
“The addition of Woods to IAPMO UES not only gives us additional resources to better serve our clients, but we also gain a large amount of valuable knowledge and experience to add to our group,” IAPMO UES Senior Vice President Jerry Carrier said. “IAPMO UES continues to put a premium on hiring staff that has strong backgrounds with industry experience and knowledge of codes.”
McRoy has served for more than 10 years on both ASTM committees associated with cold-formed steel and the AISI Committee on Specifications, and he was involved in the various subcommittees supporting the AISI North American Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members. His experience in product certification covers a wide range of products, including cold-formed steel products, roofing products, flood vents, concrete foundation forms, foundation drainage products, precast/prestressed concrete, structural composite lumber, wood I-joists, shipping containers, shrinkage compensating devices, interior and exterior veneers, and many other one-off products.
“With all the challenges everyone has faced this year, little did I know that it would end on such a strong positive note for me,” McRoy said. “Having previously worked with four of the IAPMO UES engineers, I was aware of the high level of expertise and integrity that IAPMO UES has. When the opportunity for me to join IAPMO UES presented itself, it was a very easy decision. I am excited about working with everyone at IAPMO, growing the IAPMO UES program, and foresee many more positive developments for both IAPMO UES and myself.”
About IAPMO’S Uniform Evaluation Service
IAPMO UES is one of the most prominent evaluation service providers in the country (as noted by SEAOC; see uniform-es.org for details). UES reports provide evidence that products and systems satisfy code requirements within the scope and conditions of use as noted in each report.
IAPMO’s UES offers a full range of recognition opportunities, including for the applicable national model codes as well as Florida, California, and various other state codes. By combining all of these recognitions into one concise report, listing, or certificate prepared by an internationally recognized product certification body, the UES program reduces cost and increases value.
