The IAPMO Group is pleased to announce Bart W. Berneche, PE, has joined the Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) staff as a senior engineer.
Berneche brings more than 30 years of technical experience in construction and quality assurance; the most recent 20 years as a civil/structural engineer. He spent the past six years with ICC Evaluation Service, serving most recently as senior staff engineer evaluating a wide range of building products, including exterior claddings, wallboards, building systems, and various engineered wood products. Prior to that, Berneche worked as an engineer in the prefabricated building industry and as a consulting engineer.
“Uniform ES is the fastest growing evaluation agency in the United States; we are extremely pleased to add someone with such experience to our growing staff,” said Uniform ES Director Richard Beck. “Our clients will benefit greatly from Bart’s construction and code experience.”
Berneche earned a B.S.C.E. degree at the University of South Florida and began his engineering career with PFS Corporation at its office in Dallas, then worked under the well-known Dr. Beineke in Raleigh, N.C. He is a registered Professional Engineer in four states: Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Mississippi.
“The addition of Bart Berneche confirms the Uniform ES commitment to excellence and to becoming the best and most widely accepted evaluation agency in the United States,” said Ohannes Dembekjian, senior director. “Bart’s expertise will allow Uniform ES to service a wider range of clients who are seeking detailed, professional evaluation reports.”
Berneche is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Alabama, where he serves on the Board of Directors.
“As evaluation engineers, we work on behalf of building code officials throughout the country to provide the information they need to accept, with confidence, the building products we evaluate and recognize,” Berneche said. “We facilitate the building process by providing confirmation that building product manufacturers, through adherence to strict quality measures, provide products that meet the often rigorous performance demands contained in the code; thus assuring the goal of all stakeholders — building safety.
“Together with IAPMO staff, we will continue working to facilitate this process by providing excellent customer service to building product manufacturers and the highest quality evaluation reports for the architects, engineers, and building code officials who rely on them.”
