In an effort to help manufacturers feel assured in their compliance to the California State Low Lead Plumbing Law, commonly known as AB 1953, IAPMO R&T is offering free certification to Annex G of the NSF/ANSI 61 standard, provided the products are already certified by IAPMO R&T to NSF/ANSI 61 and meet the required minimum standards of Annex G.
On Jan. 1, 2010, the State of California will begin enforcing an allowed maximum weighted average lead count of ≤.25 percent in all pipe fittings and fixtures that interact with drinking water. Compliance to the law is based on a weighted average calculation of total surface area in contact with drinking water and the maximum percent lead content of materials used in the production of the item. Manufacturers wishing to market their products in California will be required to have them certified as satisfying this requirement.
The only way to show complete compliance to the California State Low Lead Plumbing Law is to have the product certified specifically to the law — not to any other document. IAPMO R&T has offered this certification service since September 2007.
In order to provide a comfort level to all clients concerning their products and the law, IAPMO R&T is offering all of its NSF/ANSI 61 listees free certification to Annex G when they obtain their California State Low Lead Plumbing Law certification through IAPMO R&T.
Manufacturers have long trusted IAPMO R&T for its foresight in assisting them in meeting the dynamic legislative demands on their faucets, valves, fittings and other products that contact drinking water.
