The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is pleased to announce the introduction of the IAPMO California Codes Portal, an interactive and annotatable code access system that simplifies the work of those utilizing the 2007 California Plumbing and Mechanical Codes.
Using the IAPMO California Codes Portal, code enforcers, design professionals and contractors can obtain the codes, standards and regulations necessary to competently use, apply and/or enforce the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, also referred to as the California Building Standards Code.
IAPMO, working with Citation Technologies Inc. (www.citation.com), has taken the California Plumbing Code (CPC) and California Mechanical Code (CMC), based on the corresponding Uniform Codes, and essentially uploaded them to the Internet along with a host of tools to enhance and expand the user’s capabilities.
“This exciting new venture officially brings codes and standards into the information technology age in a way not previously available for the California codes,” said Terry Leppellere, IAPMO director of Member Services. “All of the codes, standards and regulations — and the most advanced tools created to access them — are now only a click away.”
Using the powerful search capabilities, users can easily identify the right documents and review them immediately, enabling quicker more accurate decision-making. Search by keywords and see those keywords highlighted within each standard in which they’re included, and retain those searches for future use.
Organizations can use the portal to incorporate important company information and facilitate overall compliance throughout the organization. A forum is provided to discuss matters that affect business, allowing users to attach notes, images, tables and links to any document or paragraph within a document and then share these annotations with other individuals.
And with the IAPMO California Codes Portal, all information is automatically updated whenever changes to any standard or regulation occur across industry categories, so users will always have the most current, pertinent information available at their fingertips.
“Ever since the California Building Standards Commission first began publishing and promoting the California Plumbing and Mechanical Codes, IAPMO has been an integral part of the process,” said Russ Chaney, IAPMO executive director. “This portal represents another big step in our support of these codes. By introducing them in a whole new technological manner, we hope to facilitate the kind of change that promises to keep our industry moving forward.”
