IAPMO India Private Limited, provider of one-stop-shop services including model code and standard development, education, water filtration and plumbing product testing and certification for the maximization of product compliance, acceptance and public confidence, has hired Dr. Nimish Shah, Ph.D., as managing director.
A 25-year veteran of British multinational consumer goods company Unilever, Shah brings exceptional experience managing teams, building partnerships, driving innovation and implementing ambitious business plans. Most recently he served as managing director of India’s Toilet Board Coalition, shaping the nation’s program with a low-cost operating model and bringing new corporate members to the table. As a knowledge partner for the Indian government, Shah helped set up a Global Sanitation Centre of Excellence.
Holding degrees in microbiology and business management, as well as a Ph.D. in life sciences, from the University of Mumbai, Shah began his career with Unilever R&D South Asia’s Department of Microbiology in 1995, ultimately leading the department from 2003-2007. He then spent 11 years as director of Unilever Global R&D’s Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre (SEAC).

IAPMO India Private Limited (IAPMO India) was founded in 2007 with an office in Bengaluru. IAPMO India and the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) began, and continue to foster, a strong and essential partnership to better provide for the industry by developing codes and standards. IAPMO India has partnered with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) to develop Uniform Mechanical Codes (UMC-I) for India since 2010. IAPMO India also conducts education and training programs and provides accredited testing and certification services to manufacturers of plumbing, water systems and mechanical products.
IAPMO India has managed the Water Quality India Association (WQIA) since February 2018, leading the association’s membership, education and standard development and promoting industry initiatives throughout the country.
