IAPMO a Key Contributor at EduCode

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is pleased to announce that IAPMO code instructors will teach all of the plumbing and mechanical courses at the 11th annual EduCode International conference, Feb. 25-29 in Las Vegas.

The annual education and training event, which takes place at The Orleans Hotel and Casino, will feature IAPMO instructors Dr. Stu Asay, Tim Collings, Dave Viola, Roger Fuller and Eric Makela teaching a total of eight sessions at the conference.

Highly experienced industry professionals, recognized in their fields of expertise, teach classes at EduCode in 19 specific tracks, such as Code Enforcement, Electrical, International Fire Code, Plumbing and Mechanical, and the Future of the Built Environment. Topics are addressed as they apply to the most recently published codes.

Asay, director of IAPMO’s Backflow Prevention Institute, will lead an intermediate-level overview of backflow prevention terminology, devices, installation and testing.

Collings, senior inspector for Salt Lake City Corporation, will lead four sessions: UPC Water & Fuel Gas Pipe, Sizing & Installation (entry-level); Combustion Air and Venting of Gas Burning Appliances (entry-level); Grease Interceptors, UPC Chapter 10 (intermediate-level); and Effective Use of the Drain, Waste, and Vent Provisions of the UPC and IPC (intermediate-level).

Viola, IAPMO director of Special Services and a member of IAPMO’s Green Technical Committee, will lead an introduction to “Green Building: How it Relates to the Plumbing and Mechanical Trades.”

Fuller, supervising building inspector for plumbing and mechanical inspections for the County of Sacramento, will lead the class on UL Fire Stopping in Fire-Resistance-Rated Assemblies (Intermediate-Advanced-level). Fuller will also team with Makela, co-founder of the Britt/Makela Group, to instruct the course on Mechanical (HVAC) Compliance with ASHRAE 90.1-2004 (entry-level).

“It speaks volumes that the organizers of EduCode so value IAPMO’s expertise in these areas that our people exclusively have been asked to instruct the plumbing and mechanical seminars,” said Ron Rice, IAPMO president.
