Acorn Engineering Company, City of Industry, Calif.,-based manufacturer of stainless steel plumbing fixtures for the commercial, architectural, industrial, correctional, institutional and residential sectors, recently turned to IAPMO R&T for electrical certification of its surgical scrub sinks.
The result: Just another satisfied customer.
“The professional and friendly staff of the IAPMO R&T electrical department understood our needs and helped us achieve our listing goals very promptly,” said Farhad Shahriary, compliance engineer for Acorn. “We were satisfied beyond expectation.”
Acorn trusted IAPMO R&T, North America’s premier plumbing and mechanical product certification agency, with its electrical certification needs because the manufacturer already has a multitude of plumbing product listings through the ANSI- and SCC-accredited third-party certification body and has long enjoyed the lower testing/listing costs and ease of application offered by IAPMO R&T, according to Shahriary.
As a result of the listing, consumers, contractors and inspectors alike now know that Acorn’s models 4101, 4102 and 4103, as well as their Whitehall series models SS-1, SS-2 and SS-3, health care institution scrub sinks comply with every standard governing their use in the United States and Canada.
IAPMO R&T’s electrical scope accreditation extension from ANSI includes other such electro-plumbing products as Whirlpools (covered by UL 1795), spas (covered by UL 1563) and the components within them. Additional products qualifying within the scope of this accreditation include electrical faucets, flushometer valves and similar plumbing fixtures utilizing electrical components.
The ANSI accreditation enables IAPMO R&T to expand its menu of certification services in order to ease the burden placed on many clients who previously have had to certify their products for the plumbing aspects of their use through IAPMO R&T and the electrical aspects through another third-party certification body. This, of course, added cost and time to the process, thus slowing the product’s delivery to market.

IAPMO R&T certifies and lists electrical, plumbing, mechanical and solar products according to established US and Canadian codes and standards, ensuring continuous compliance to such documents. IAPMO R&T is part of The IAPMO Group’s family of companies.
