100 Years In and Looking Ahead

This year, IAPMO turns 100.

That is a milestone worth recognizing, but more than that, it is a moment to pause and consider what it represents — a century of progress does not happen on its own. It is built over time by members who choose to stay engaged, share their expertise, and contribute to something bigger than their day-to-day work.

That is what has carried IAPMO from its beginnings in Los Angeles to where it is today. And as we move through this centennial year, there is a clear opportunity for more members to be part of what comes next.

Take a Second Look at Conference

For many members, conference has not always been a priority. It is easy to stay focused on your work, stay connected locally, and leave it at that. But this year is different.

The 2026 Annual Education and Business Conference is more than a yearly event. It is part of a broader milestone that brings together the people, ideas, and conversations that have shaped the industry over the past 100 years and will continue to shape it moving forward.

What makes conference valuable is not just the sessions. It is the time spent connecting with peers, hearing different perspectives, and stepping back from your routine long enough to think differently about your work.

If conference has not been on your radar in the past, this is a good year to reconsider that.

A Simple Way to Get More Involved

Another place where we are seeing strong momentum is committee participation. Committees are where members bring realworld experience into the conversation and help translate that into direction for the industry. Whether it is sharing insight, asking questions, or contributing to discussions that influence standards and practices, that involvement has a direct impact.

It is also one of the most accessible ways to move from being connected to being actively engaged. You do not have to change your role or take on something completely new. You just have to step into the conversation.

If you have been thinking about getting more involved, this is a good place to start. You can review opportunities and apply at iapmo.org/about/committees. Committee applications are now open!

Why Engagement Matters

Membership offers a lot of value, from education to networking to industry resources. But what makes that value more meaningful is how you choose to engage with it.

The more you participate, the more you gain. You build relationships, stay closer to what is changing, and develop a clearer understanding of where the industry is headed.

Just as important, you help shape that direction.

Looking Ahead

Reaching 100 years is a shared accomplishment, but it is also a reminder that the strength of this association has always come from its members.

So as this year continues, consider where you want to be part of it.

That could mean attending conference for the first time. It could mean applying for a committee. Or it could simply mean finding one new way to stay engaged. Whatever it is, take that step.

Because the next chapter of IAPMO will be built the same way the first 100 years were built, one member at a time.
