IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) is pleased to announce that California-based SidePlate Systems, Inc. was granted UES Evaluation Report ER-0525 to reference the 2015 and 2012 International Building Code® (IBC) and the 2015 and 2012 International Residential Code® (IRC), along with the 2016 and 2013 editions of the California Building Code® (CBC) and 2017 City of Los Angeles Building Code (LABC). ER-0525 states that SidePlate Systems, Inc. Steel Frame Connection Technology: Field-Welded and Field-Bolted Connections, as shown in the report, satisfy applicable code requirements. This allows for the specification of the SidePlate Steel Frame Connection Technology: Field-Welded and Field-Bolted Connections by architects, contractors, specifiers, and designers, and approval of installations by code officials. It also provides code officials with a concise summary of the products’ attributes and documentation of code compliance.
SidePlate Systems, Inc. was evaluated by IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service jointly with LADBS under the City’s Pilot Program to Satisfy Seismic Requirements in Los Angeles and California. LADBS has been issuing Los Angeles Research Reports (LARR) based on a UES evaluation report since 2009, and the validity of UES reports has been confirmed repeatedly throughout the jurisdiction ever since.
Products recognized with an IAPMO UES Evaluation Report have successfully undergone evaluation based on applicable requirements within the Uniform Family of Codes and the International Family of Codes, as well as codes published by other entities. UES staff thoroughly examined SidePlate product information, test reports, calculations, quality-control methods, and other factors to determine the products are code compliant.
“The issuance of ER-0525 is very significant for SidePlate,” said President and CEO Henry Gallart, MS, PE, SE. “We are most impressed with the cooperation between UES and LABDS in working to achieve joint recognition. UES provides industry-leading technical reviews, combined with great customer service. SidePlate finds UES’ passion for what they do to be a game-changing advantage and we highly recommend them.”
UES evaluates products and then documents findings in evaluation reports that summarize results and supporting documentation necessary to document code compliance. UES’ unique combination of customer service, technical expertise, and quick turnaround are just some of the reasons it is the fastest-growing evaluation program in America.
“SidePlate can now reference its ER-0525 for their Steel Frame Connection Technology: Field-Welded and Field-Bolted Connections,” said UES Vice President Richard Beck, PE, CBO, MCP. “This allows for the specification of SidePlate, ensuring that code officials quickly have the information required for their decision on approval. Our program also stands out as one of only two selected by LABDS to participate in their pilot program to facilitate seismic-related product approvals for the city of Los Angeles and the state of California.”
